Do Squats

It's time for me to tell you about one of the most innovative groups in the history of Long Island music, Valley Stream's very own Do Squats. Do Squats formed somewhere around 2006 or 2007, though the seeds were planted long before (it is rumored the two were boyfriends prior to the band's inception). Comprised of emcee Thigh Sexual and producer 8x8=myhugedick, Do Squats scored fame pretty quick on the heels of their debut single, the 8x8-penned "What U Wanna Do Wit Me (Fuck)," which lit up clubs across America all summer long.

The song fueled an intense beef between Do Squats and popular hip hop group Dipset for Thigh's lyrical taunt, "Jim Jones get at me." The two rivals exchanged barbs through the press, and gunshots through the streets, but no diss tracks were recorded. Muddled by the controversy, Do Squats' follow-up single, "Run," another 8x8 composition, failed to chart and the group quickly disbanded. While 8x8 remained relatively quiet after the break-up, Sexual found success as a solo artist with his techno single "Put My Dick In Your Mouth (Reverse! Reverse!)" although its use of a sample from Nico's "These Days" without permission landed the rapper in legal troubles.

However, the band's publicist has announced that the group are now reuniting, and have begun recording their first LP, Sexually Active Girls. The lead single and title track is set for release this fall, with details of a full-scale stadium/backyard tour to be announced soon after. Jim Jones declined comment on the band's reunion.
