FAN "VIDEO"??/

hey so during one of my many daily vanity searches the other day i came across this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1RVa8B1khg

made by youtube user "israeliheart," the clip is just bastards with broken heart wallpaper throughout. there's technically no actual video. it's actually pretty weird. he/she (going with she here, but i can have an open mind) has made over 200 other clips like it for other songs. but israeliheart, if you are out there, thank you for this. real talk. in fact, hit us up and we'll send you a CD -- all the way to israel, if that's where you're at -- as a token of our gratitude.

PRessbeAR

The Slothbear is a wonderful animal and so it's only fitting that a band named after such an awesome creature should, too, be awesome. NYC's Slothbear make noisy, caustic pop songs with more catchiness – and treble – than you could shake a stick at. Since yesterday I've been pretty stuck on them and songs like "The Exceptional Bastards" and "You Make Me Choose You" are so instantly infectious and, well, I don't know, they're just really really good. I wouldn't be surprised if Slothbear were picked up by Siltbreeze in some time soon.

FOX NEWS BREAK -- NEW ADVENTURES in HiFi AKA under THE BEAR under THE SLoth AKA SEX RENEGADES(the true story)

KKKKKKWWEEEOOWWWSHHHHHHHH

" SLOTHBEAR " will begin recording whatever the next thing they do ends up being this Friday, effectively christening doug's new Can't Commit Studios (alt title- GAAAHHD DYEHHHMIT Studios), which he built with his own two bare hands out of a single tree log. We berz are so excited about our new songs that we may even make you pay to hear them this time. It could be an album, and EP, a single, or nothing at all (wouldn't be shocked), but its COMING and here are just a few titles that may be on it:

no dialogue
killed by cars
fluoxetine
wide berth
baby i aint no killa
ghost indians
la da da
olio
djam
the words will come
pa kids
bam bam
little qid
the proof will do me in
bear today, gone tomorrow
another josh song that doesn't have a working title
fa la la

maybe some others. many of these have been played out before and hypothetically speaking, if we had fans, they would probably recognize a few. and of course, ya can't rule out the old hits...

MOVING ON

Our EP is freely available on myspace, lastfm, some still active link on the Animal Collective message board, and from our swollen, bleeding hands to your mailbox. But now you can also download it for free here from the nice folk(s) at RACK AND ROOOIN records. Basically, if you don't have that album by now, you are a fucking asshole !~!!

slothbear also has a SEMINAR this thursday with the peter tabler big whigs.

context:

To Whom It May Concern,

Due to the inappropriate behavior of the band Sloth Bear at the Tabler Café on Wednesday, September 10th the band, including members Craig Heed, Josh Ginsberg, Doug Bleek and Ian Miniero, is no longer allowed to perform at any future Campus Dining Open Mic event. All Tabler Building Staff and Campus Dining staff have been informed to immediately contact University Police if approached by any member of the Sloth Bear band during a future Open Mic. Any questions please feel free in contacting me.

Thank You,
Lisa Ospitale

Aw shit

I know very little about the band as the email they sent me was one of the least informative I've received in my two years of blogging. A couple of short, unpunctuated, sentences inviting me to check 'em out. So somewhat intrigued check 'em out I did by hot-footing it to their myspace site (they at least provided a link in the mail!) to find six tracks of seriously lo-fi fuzzed up slop pop that have enough spark of genius to suggest mega cult status beckons.

NEWSLOTH 9/5

MAYBE YOU HAVEN'T HEARD but we've lately been tearing up the Blog O' Sphere by which i mean we've received a handful of (generally) positive write-ups of our Extended Play on some pretty sweet blogs. Here's what the people are saying:

"i love when people send over shit with nothing other than a few mp3’s and a few sentences. such is the case with sloth bear. no individual band member names, no myspace page, no album title, nothing… just, and i am paraphrasing, hey we are sloth bear, we recorded this in our basement on a 4 track, blah blah blah. i appreciate that they didnt send me to myspace or some other bullshit. instead, they sent over 6 tracks of what turned out to be pure fuzzed out pop bliss complete with barely decipherable lyrics. that shit gets me every time, in all seriousness."
-- Captain's Dead

"Oh baby, have you been looking for a band that continues the Lo Fi aesthetic a la GBV? One that has Volume Compressed guitars (no it's not Times New Viking, let me finish), and has L.I. roots? Then you gots to listen to some Slothbear."
-- Gimme Tinnitus

"So I get alot of stuff in my mailbox from bands...well, not alot, but some. I've been meaning to write about it all, but never gotten around to it. So with that said, I just got an email from a New York band called Slothbear, and I instantly liked it. Lo-fi noise pop. This gives me alitte Sic Alps feeling; which is a good thing. According to their myspace page, the songs "were recorded on a broken four track with no microphones."
Great. Keep using it."
-- Compost Modern Art

"They ain’t crap"
-- Bad Luck City

a big zoocratic thank you to all of these noble bloggers.

IN OTHER NEWS
-- slothbear has been booked yet again at Mr Beery's in Bethpage. We be jammin Friday, October 17th opening for such alleged indie rock luminaries as Gilgongo, Moose Moose, and Lost Nairb. Show starts at 9.

And lastly, on a much more diabolical note, this awesome photograph reminded me of the heart wrenching tale behind it.
